On this guided tour of Monforte d'Alba, we'll learn about the history of Cuneo, a province of the Piedmont region.
Tour Description
The guided tour of Monforte d'Alba begins at the Tourist Office, located at 3 Via della Chiesa. We will explore one of the beautiful villages in the Langhe, situated to the south and east of the Tanaro River.
Our first visit will be to the Chiesa della Madonna della Neve, dating from the early 20th Century. The tour will proceed to Piazza Umberto I, which is central to the town's social and commercial activities. Next, we will visit the Martina Museum, dedicated to a colonel of the Savoy army.
After touring this historic palace, we will head to the medieval area of Monforte d'Alba, particularly the Saracca quarter. We will discuss the Cathars as we walk through these streets. Our next stop will be Piazza della Vecchia Chiesa, where we will see the Oratorio di Sant'Agostino and the Clock Tower.
We will then visit the open-air amphitheatre of Horschowski, home of the Monforte Jazz Festival each July, and stop at the Big Bench #12 for photos. The tour concludes at the Alberto Scarampi del Cairo lookout point after one hour.
