On this day trip to the Camargue, Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer, and Aigues-Mortes, visit the pink lagoon, a walled city, and a 13th-century watchtower!
Day Trip from Montpellier
At the appointed time, we'll meet at the Odysseum Shopping Center in Montpellier and board a minibus for a tour of the Occitania region in the south of France. Following a 28 km (17.3-mile) journey, we'll reach the walled city of Aigues-Mortes, where we will explore the city center and its well-preserved walls.
Tour participants going between April and October will take a small train tour of the Salines de la Camargue to see the vibrant pink water. Those joining in the period between November and March will visit the Espiguette Lighthouse and observe typical Camargue birds, as well as the regions' rice fields and marshes.
Our next stop will be Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer, where we will explore its historic center, including the Romanesque church and the revered Black Virgin from the 10th century.
We will then conclude the day with a visit to the Torre Carbonnière for panoramic views of the marshes and rice paddies. After an 8-hour tour, we will return to the meeting point, marking the end of our excursion.
