Day Trip Details

We will meet you at your hotel in Kanazawa and head by public bus to the historic village of Shirakawago. Experience Gassho-style houses built in the early 1800s, still inhabited today. After a 1-hour ride through the scenic Japanese Alps, we will arrive at the village. Our first stop will be the Wada-House, the largest traditional Gassho-style farmhouse in Shirakawago.

In this village, you'll find a concentration of Gassho-zukuri style houses, known for their thatched roofs designed to withstand heavy snowfall, constructed using only ropes. An interesting fact is that gassh?-zuruki translates to 'praying hands'.

Accompanied by a guide, we'll embark on a 1-hour tour of Ogimachi, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where we'll learn about local life and the history of the homes, some of which are over 250 years old and transformed into open-air museums. You will have one hour of free time afterward to enjoy lunch at local restaurants.

We will return to Kanazawa, where you'll be escorted back to your hotel, concluding approximately 5 hours after the start.

Hotel Pickup

Please note that we'll meet you at your hotel in downtown Kanazawa. We can either take a taxi (at your expense) or walk to the bus station. For hotels outside downtown, we'll meet you at the Kanazawa bus station.
