Description

Meeting at your chosen time in Piazza Castello in Otranto, located in the heel of the Italian boot, we will start a walking tour of its iconic buildings.

We will view the 15th-century Aragonese Castle and discuss the various historic periods and civilizations including the Romans, Lombards, Ottomans, and Venetians that have influenced Otranto.

The tour will take us through the town's streets, showcasing churches, the harbour, the beach, the Monument for the Martyrs of Otranto, and more. We will enter the Cathedral of Saint Mary of the Annunciation, notable for its Romanesque architecture. Inside, we will explore the ancient mosaics and their significance.

After a 1.5-hour private tour of Otranto, we conclude outside the cathedral.
