Irritilas Petroglyphs Hiking Tour

On this hiking route through the Irritilas petroglyphs, we will explore a territory that houses ancestral traces of incalculable value in Mexican history.

Hike Details

At the designated time, we'll meet at Segunda de Abril 12A. Once gathered, we will start walking along the trails of Parras de la Fuente leading us to learn about the ancient Mexican sun culture.

After a 20-minute drive, we'll reach the surroundings of San Francisco del Progreso, where we'll continue our journey to learn about the history and symbolism of the ancient Mexican sun culture.

During the walking route, we will explain the different types of petroglyphs in this area, including abstract designs, perfectly geometric forms, and representations of whole bodies, handprints, footprints, animals, and plants.

You will also learn about the Nahuatlaca tribes who left their testimony through these cave paintings.

Lastly, we will stop for a typical appetizer of the local gastronomy, including gorditas de harina de trigo.

We will conclude our experience back at the meeting point between 2.5 to 3 hours after the start of the activity.
