Tour Description

At the indicated time, head to Liyuan Theater for a traditional dinner and opera show in Beijing. Enjoy a traditional Beijing dinner for about an hour and a half, which may include soup, chicken, prawn or meat stir-fry with vegetables and rice. If the group has more than 4 people, Peking duck may be served.

Following dinner, learn about the preparation and characterisation of the actors before the show. The hour-long opera show features a musical genre developed in Beijing at the end of the 18th century, combining music, singing, mime, dance, and acrobatics performed by artists in elaborate costumes.

Each opera tells a story centered around four main characters: sheng (man), dan (young woman), jing (man with painted face), and chou (clown, man or woman), representing themes like loyalty, betrayal, beauty, or evil.
