Tour of Misak Culture

At 8 am, we'll meet at the main park of Silvia. We'll board a minibus and head to the outskirts of the town for a cultural tour focused on the ancient customs of the indigenous people of the Colombian department of Cauca.

After a 45-minute drive, we'll arrive at a Misak orchard or yatul. Misak women will explain how the crops and planting processes are organized. Participants can choose to assist in the harvest.

Next, we'll visit a Misak house, learning how these pre-Hispanic people have lived in the lands of Silvia for centuries. We will view the kitchens, a space considered sacred, and hear about the traditions and embroidery techniques used to make their clothing.

Following the house tour, lunch will be provided with options of a fish or vegetarian dish, along with a drink and local fruit.

After lunch, we'll return to the minibus and visit the Casa Payán Interpretation Center. Here, we will learn about the medicinal plants significant in Miskitu and Colombian culture.

The tour concludes at 2:30 pm back at the starting point.
