Ortigia Private Tour
At the appointed time, we'll meet at the Umbertino Bridge, connecting the center of Syracuse with the island of Ortigia, founded in 734 BC.
On this walk, we'll enter the fortified area and discover the origins of Syracuse. We'll see its most outstanding monuments, such as the Temple of Apollo, the oldest Doric sanctuary in Sicily. We'll pass by Piazza Archimede, dedicated to the great mathematician born in Syracuse, and the fountain of Diana.
Walking through Ortigia, we'll reach Piazza Minerva and see the Cathedral of Syracuse, built on the remains of the ancient Temple of Athens.
We'll stop at the façade, a mixture of baroque and rococo styles, and we'll continue to admire other nearby buildings such as the Palazzo del Vermexio, Town Hall, the Palazzo Beneventano, and the Santa Lucia alla Badia Church, which houses a work by Caravaggio.
We'll continue to the promenade, known as the Alfeo, to see the Arethusa fountain and the silhouette of the Castello Maniace .
The tour will end 2 hours after it starts.
