On this guided tour of Thessaloniki, discover the history of Greece's second most important city as we walk through its main streets and important monuments.
Tour Details
At the appointed time, we will meet in front of the Electra Palace Thessaloniki hotel to start our tour. First, we will walk to the White Tower, which served as a defensive tower and prison after its construction.
Next, we will see the equestrian statue of Alexander the Great, erected in 1973, standing at 6 meters (19 feet) on a 5-meter (15 feet) marble pedestal.
We will then pass by the OTE Tower, a 76-metre (249 feet) high telecommunications building, and explore the ruins of the Palace of Galerius, Arch of Galerius, and the ancient Roman Forum.
Finally, we will visit the Byzantine churches of the Acheiropoietos and San Demetrio, the latter declared a World Heritage Site in 1988. The tour will conclude 2 hours after it starts, returning to the meeting point.
