The tour starts with a hotel pick-up in Trujillo, followed by a trip to Brujo, located 40 miles north in Magdalena de Cao. En route, enjoy the scenery of sugar cane fields. Visit the three Mochica huacas: Cao, Partida, and Prieta, noted for their impressive structures and polychrome relief paintings representing ancient customs.
After a break, proceed to the Cao Museum, which houses the remains of the former Mochica governess. Explore her significant role in challenging patriarchal norms within the culture. The mummy of the lady of Cao features preserved tattoos of snakes and spiders on her hands and ankles.
The museum displays significant ceramic artifacts depicting local wildlife, hunting practices, textiles, and baskets. There is also an exhibit on human sacrifice rituals, showcasing representations of prisoners and battles. Conclude the tour with a return to your hotel in Trujillo.
