Visit the Most Beautiful Churches in Venice
At the indicated time, we'll gather at the Church of St. Zacharias to begin our tour of three of Venice's iconic temples.
We'll visit the Church of St. Zacharias, a 15th-century building in the heart of the city. Its façade features Gothic and Renaissance elements.
Inside, we’ll see a notable work by painter Giovanni Bellini, The Virgin and Child with Saints, displayed on the main altar. A highlight will be the partially submerged crypt, which holds the remains of ancient Venetian doges.
After San Zaccaria, we'll continue to the Basilica of St. John and St. Paul, also known as San Zanipolo. Built in the 13th century, it is one of the largest churches in Venice. Its façade contrasts with the opulent interior, where we’ll view the tombs of 25 doges, highlighting its historical role as the pantheon of the ancient Republic of Venice.
The culmination of our visit will be St. Mark's Basilica, the city's symbol. Its Byzantine-style architecture showcases the connections between Venice and the Eastern world. Inside, the impressive golden mosaics convey its historical and cultural significance.
After 2 hours and 15 minutes, we'll conclude this enriching experience at the final basilica.
