Kotagede Private Day Trip

Explore an ancient Javanese village on this private day trip to Yogyakarta. Ride in a traditional becak and discover the heritage of the Kingdom of Mataram Islam.

Private Day Trip Details

Pickup is at 8:30 am from your hotel, followed by a visit to the Sultan's Palace, home to approximately 30,000 inhabitants. A stroll through the streets will lead us to the iconic Water Castle.

We will then travel to Kotagede, arriving after a half-hour drive in the ancient village. Here, we will explore its picturesque streets via the traditional becak.

The becak will take us around the market, followed by a visit to a batik and silver factory. We will also visit the Royal Cemetery and the ancient Mosque, both important heritage sites of the Kingdom of Mataram Islam, where Kotagede once served as the capital.

We will visit a Javanese family home and enjoy a lunch of traditional homemade dishes. The trip concludes with a return to Yogyakarta, dropping you off at your accommodation by 4 pm.
