Ancient ruins, lost civilizations, imposing fortresses... Join us on this 3-day excursion to Tantamayo from Huanuco to experience all of these wonders and much more in central Peru!

3-Day Tour of Tantamayo

Day 1: Huanuco - Kotosh - Tantamayo

The tour begins at 9 am when we pick you up at your hotel in Huanuco for a six-hour drive towards Tantamayo, passing by the archaeological site of Kotosh where the temple of the Crossed Hands is located. We will travel through the Marañon River valley to reach the village of Tantamayo, where you will have free time to explore the town and visit the 16th-century church.

Day 2: Tantamayo

After breakfast, we will head to the archaeological center of Tantamayo. A 35-minute walk will take us to the Piruro sector, known for its yarowilca constructions up to 12 meters high. Next, we will visit the Selmin Granero sector, a former granary, before returning to the lodge for lunch. Post-lunch, we will hike for 40 minutes at an altitude of 3400 to 3900 meters to reach the Susopillo sector, the highest point, where we will explore ancient structures and learn about lost civilizations. Dinner will be served at the lodge afterwards.

Day 3: Tantamayo - Corona del Inca - Huanuco

Breakfast will be at 6 am before we depart for Huanuco. The return trip includes stops at picturesque villages such as Chavin de Pariarca, Quivilla, Tingo Chico, and Ayapiteg, where we will see the hill known as Corona del Inca. We will arrive in Huanuco and drop you off at your hotel at 1 pm.

Lodging and meals

This tour includes two nights of accommodation in a double room with a shared bathroom in a rural hostel in Tantamayo. Additionally, 2 breakfasts, 2 lunches, and 2 dinners are provided. Breakfast consists of a selection of drinks and bread, while lunch features soup and a main course with various options. Dinner offers the same main courses as lunch with a hot beverage.
