3-Day Tour of Tantamayo

Ancient ruins, lost civilizations, imposing fortresses... Join us on this 3-day excursion to Tantamayo from Huanuco to experience all of these wonders and much more in central Peru!

3-Day Tour of Tantamayo

Day 1: Huanuco - Kotosh - Tantamayo

The tour will commence at 9 am when we pick you up at your hotel in Huanuco and drive towards Tantamayo. During the six-hour drive, we'll visit the archaeological site of Kotosh, home to the temple of the Crossed Hands. After passing through the valley of the Marañon River, we'll arrive in Tantamayo, where you'll have free time to explore the town and visit the 16th-century church.

Day 2: Tantamayo

Following breakfast, we'll visit the archaeological center of Tantamayo, starting with a 35-minute walk to the Piruro sector, featuring yarowilca constructions up to 12 meters (40 feet) high. Next, we will explore the Selmin Granero sector before returning to the lodge for lunch. Afterward, we'll hike for 40 minutes to the Susopillo sector, the highest point in Tantamayo, to see the fortress and learn about lost civilizations.

Day 3: Tantamayo - Corona del Inca - Huanuco

At 6 am, we will have breakfast before departing for Huanuco. The trip includes passing through picturesque villages such as Chavin de Pariarca, Quivilla, Tingo Chico, and Ayapiteg, and viewing the hill known as Corona del Inca. We will arrive in Huanuco and return you to your hotel by 1 pm.

Lodging and meals

The tour includes two nights of accommodation in a double room with a shared bathroom at a rural hostel in Tantamayo. It also provides 2 breakfasts, 2 lunches, and 2 dinners, with meals featuring a variety of choices including trout, steak, and vegetarian dishes, accompanied by hot beverages.
