Central Andes 4 Day Tour
Day 1
Pickup from your hotel at 4 am to drive to the high Andean region of Huanuco. After a 3-hour drive, breakfast in the colonial town of Jesús, founded in 1572. Visit Lauricocha lake at 4000 meters altitude, passing over an Inca bridge to Qhapaq Ñan. Next, stop at Wagratacanán for the Lauricocha Man fossil remains. Picnic lunch, return to Jesús for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2
After breakfast, visit the town of Jesús and its church. Proceed to the Chiquia archaeological complex of the Yarowillca culture, then to Gongui with funerary monuments and Inca Baths. Lunch at the baths, then visit the Inca citadel of Huánuco Pampa, viewing palaces, temples, and the sacred ushno. Dinner and overnight stay at La Union.
Day 3
Breakfast and travel to Tantamayo, passing Pachas and Chavín de Pariarca. Tour the historical centre and have lunch. After, a 1 hour 30 minutes walk through the archaeological site of Tantamayo, observing yarowillcas constructions. Return to the village for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4
Breakfast and head to the archaeological site of Garu on Condor Waganan hill. Explore the 20-hectare complex, with a 30-minute walk. Begin return to Huanuco, passing Corona del Inca hill and Ayapiteg, stopping for lunch. Arrival in Huanuco around 7 pm for hotel drop-off.
