Excursion to Garu and Corona del Inca

Your adventure begins at 6 am with a pickup from your accommodation in Huánuco, followed by a drive to the district of Choras.

After a scenic three-hour journey, we will start a 2-kilometer trek across the Cóndor Waganan hill, leading us to the archaeological complex of Garu, the historic capital of the Yarowilca Empire. Situated at an elevation of 3700 meters, this site spans close to 50 acres and is recognized as one of the most significant archaeological locations in the Alto Marañón. The area features an array of stone structures, paths, towers, and burial sites.

The site is organized into three distinct areas: Huaychao, Gantu, and Jucchu or Gayarina. During our visit, we will traverse along the ancient stone walls and viewpoints that define the sections while uncovering the intriguing narratives and mysteries that this enigmatic location conceals.

Upon concluding our exploration of the archaeological complex, we will continue our journey to the Corona del Inca hill, characterized by its rugged mountainous terrain.

To cap off this remarkable excursion, we will make our way back to Huánuco and pause for lunch at a local eatery. We expect to arrive back at your accommodation by 5 pm.
