Huallaga Valley Tour
At 8 am, we will pick you up at your hotel in Huanuco to proceed to the left bank of the Huallaga River, entering the Conchumayo River valley, which was home to the Chupacho tribe before the arrival of Spanish conquistadors who colonized the valley and established Christian churches.
The tour begins with a visit to the church of the Holy Trinity, the first temple built by the conquistadors in 1541, located in Pachabamba. This church features a large 17th-century painting of "Christ Crucified," imported from Spain, a 17th-century baptismal font, and other colonial relics, including the "Holy Land Stone."
Next, we will visit the 17th-century church of San Sebastian in the village of Quera, where we will observe furniture decorated with gold leaf and a pulpit intricately carved with images of Christian saints.
Our last stop will be at the Puyhuan, meaning "heart" in Quechua. This natural monument, thousands of years old, is central to local legends and serves as a site for Andean rituals, such as the ceremony of payment to the Earth.
We will conclude the tour by returning to Huanuco and dropping you off at your accommodation by 2 pm.
