Excursion to Huánuco Pampa & La Unión
Your adventure begins with a 4 am pickup from your hotel in Huánuco, followed by a minibus ride to the Huánuco Pampa archaeological site.
This site, known as Wanuco Marka, showcases the remnants of a significant Inca administrative hub. As we explore this remarkable historical site, you'll be able to appreciate the ruins of an impressive citadel. Its robust walls were constructed to safeguard the capital of Chinchaysuyo, one of the four primary divisions of the Inca empire.
During its peak from 1460 to 1536, the ancient city thrived but experienced a decline with the arrival of the Spanish conquerors. Today, we still observe the remains of large rectangular structures referred to as kallankas. Are you curious about their purpose? We will share all the details during the tour!
Following our visit to Huánuco Pampa, we will proceed to the nearby town of La Unión, where you'll have an hour to enjoy your lunch. Afterward, a sightseeing tour of the city will take us to notable attractions, including the Puente Mariscal Caceres bridge and the thermal baths of Tauripampa.
We will conclude our excursion by returning to Plaza de Armas in Huánuco, with an estimated arrival time of 7 pm.
