Puerto Inca Chocolate Workshop

In Peru, chocolate holds a significant place due to its historical ties with cocoa. Some studies suggest that Peru was the birthplace of cocoa consumption. The tropical climate is ideal for cultivating the cocoa tree, resulting in some of the finest chocolate in the world.

This workshop in Puerto Inca will provide insights into Peruvian cocoa culture. Participants will meet at 8 am at Hospedaje Los Incas to begin the experience. The first activity involves visiting the farm to accompany producers.

During the visit, attendees will pick ripe cocoa fruit. A break for lunch will be included, featuring soup or salad, a plate of meat or fish, and a fruit drink.

After lunch, the workshop continues with the extraction of the white pulp from the cocoa fruit, where the beans are located. Participants will roast, peel, and crush the beans before grinding them. The final steps will involve tempering and molding the cocoa to create a handmade chocolate product.

At the conclusion of the workshop, participants will taste the chocolate made with their own hands.

The workshop will end at 6 pm.
