Puerto Inca Chocolate Workshop
In Peru, chocolate holds a significant place in its culinary landscape, as some studies suggest it may be the birthplace of cocoa consumption. The tropical climate is ideal for the cocoa tree, making Peruvian chocolate one of the most sought after.
This workshop in Puerto Inca provides insights into Peruvian cocoa culture. Participants will meet at 8 am at Hospedaje Los Incas to begin the experience. The first activity involves accompanying producers to the farm. Here, participants will pick ripe cocoa fruit themselves.
A lunch break will precede the workshop, featuring soup or salad, a meat or fish dish, and a fruit drink. After lunch, the workshop will focus on extracting the white pulp from the cocoa fruit, followed by roasting, peeling, and crushing the beans. Finally, participants will grind the beans, temper, and mold the cocoa to create handmade chocolate.
The workshop concludes with a tasting of the chocolate made by the participants. The event will end at 6 pm.
