On this excursion to the Royal Hill of Ambohimanga, we'll discover one of the most important archaeological sites of Madagascar.
Tour of Royal Hill of Ambohimanga
We'll pick you up at your hotel in Antananarivo at 8:30 am and travel in a comfortable minibus to the Royal Hill of Ambohimanga, located 14 miles (23 km) from the capital of Madagascar.
Upon arrival, we'll explore Ambohimanga, visiting the citadel and the necropolis. The royal hill has great historical and religious significance and is a symbol of the Malagasy national identity.
You will learn about this unique site, which was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. We'll walk through the Palace of Ambohimanga, one of the 12 sacred hills of Imerina, while receiving insights about this significant place. It served as the residence of King Andrianaponimerina, who divided the kingdom into four parts.
After touring the Royal Hill of Ambohimanga, we'll return to your hotel, finishing around 12:30 pm.
