Pompeii + Herculaneum Day Trip

The eruption of Mount Vesuvius caused devastation to the cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum. On this day trip, we'll discover what these cities were once like.

Description

At the indicated time, we'll pick you up at your meeting point and drive to the ruins of the ancient Roman city of Pompeii, buried by the lava and ash from the eruption in 79 AD. Upon arrival, we'll begin a guided tour of Pompeii, lasting approximately 2 hours, during which we'll explore landmarks such as the House of the Faun, the Amphitheatre, and the House of Menander.

Questions about the lifestyle of Pompeii's citizens and the possibility of predicting the eruption will be addressed during our exploration. After the tour, there will be 1 hour of free time for lunch in the area.

We will then proceed to Herculaneum, another city buried in 79 AD, where we will see well-preserved sites, including the Casa dei Cervi (House of Deer) and the Sacello degli Augustali (Shrine of Augustales). After this guided tour, we will visit a local cameo workshop to observe the creation of these accessories. The excursion concludes with a return to the meeting points 8 hours after pickup.

This excursion from Amalfi includes skip-the-line entry to Pompeii and Herculaneum. However, entrance to both sites is free on the first Sunday of each month, on which days a reduced rate applies.
