Did you know that the Citadel of Blaye has been declared a World Heritage Site? On this trip from Bordeaux, we will discover this military structure and enjoy a wine tasting.

Description

At the scheduled time, we will collect you from your hotel in Bordeaux to head towards the Citadel of Blaye. After an hour, we will arrive at the imposing walls. Once there, we will enter this military fort integral to the defensive systems of Aquitania.

The tour of the Citadel of Blaye will begin with a visit to its underground passages, where we'll learn about the construction of this bastion. Key aspects include how it was built and its historical significance.

Next, we will explore the walls and discuss the military strategy designed by architect Vauban in the 17th century. The citadel features a star shape when viewed from above. We will visit the towers and stop at the fortified gates.

Finally, we will proceed to the castle for a wine tasting featuring the region's Côtes de Bourg. This will provide an opportunity to relax amidst history and admire views of the Gironda Estuary.

Afterward, we will return to Bordeaux, concluding our tour after a total of 5 hours together.
