Bruges & Ghent Day Trip from Brussels
If you're in Brussels, you can't miss the chance to explore Bruges and Ghent, two of the best-preserved medieval cities in Europe. This day trip allows you to visit them both in one day.
At the appointed time, we'll meet in front of Central Station in the Belgian capital and take a panoramic tour of Brussels. From the bus, we'll see different places in the city, including Elisabeth Park and the Sacré Coeur Basilica.
As we leave Brussels’ city center behind, we'll drive to the charming city of Bruges, located 100 km (62 miles) northeast of the Belgian capital.
Bruges Tour
Upon arrival in Bruges, we'll begin the city tour, visiting notable landmarks such as Old Saint John’s Hospital and the medieval Church of Our Lady, which houses a renowned Madonna and Child sculpture.
We'll also explore points like Market Square, the Basilica of the Holy Blood, the Belfry of Bruges, the Lake of Love, the historic Begijnhof established in 1245, Walplein Square, the Dijver Canal, Tanners Square, and Castle Square with its Gothic-styled Town Hall. This will be a comprehensive tour!
After the guided tour around Bruges, you'll have some free time to enjoy a meal, take a walk, or relax over coffee while savoring delicious Belgian chocolate.
Rejuvenated, we'll depart Bruges and head to Ghent, recognized as one of the most vibrant cities in Europe, largely due to its famous university.
Ghent Tour
Upon arrival, we will visit St Bravo’s Cathedral, known for the world-famous painting “The Adoration of the Mystic Lamb” by the Van Eyck brothers.
Next, we'll see the Belfry of Ghent, Saint Nicholas Church, Gravensteen, the Castle of Gerald the Devil, the interesting Town Hall, and the Masons’ Guild House, before wandering through the Patershol district.
After experiencing all that Ghent offers, you will have more free time to soak in the city at your leisure.
Finally, after a culturally and historically rich day, we'll return to the center of Brussels, concluding this 10.5-hour journey together.
Bruges Boat Tour
If desired, you can choose the option to include a 30-minute boat ride on the canals of Bruges, starting from the Rosary pier.
