Description
At your chosen time, we will meet next to the Dom Dinis Statue to uncover the secrets of the prestigious University of Coimbra. We will enter the central courtyard of one of the oldest universities in Europe, recognized as a World Heritage Site.
Within the complex, we will visit the Chapel of São Miguel, notable for its decorated tiles and large baroque organ. Additionally, we will explore the Joanine Library, built by King John V of Portugal, housing one of the most extensive collections of books from the 16th to 18th centuries.
Following our insight into the University of Coimbra, we will admire the Old and New Cathedrals. We will also visit the escadas do Quebra Costas, designed in medieval times to connect the lower part of the city with the castle, and view the Almedina Arch, which was part of the citadel walls. There will be numerous photo opportunities.
After 2.5 hours of sightseeing, we will conclude our guided tour of Coimbra by saying goodbye near the meeting point.
