Start the day with a journey by car, minivan, van or bus to the train station in Podgorica (duration of the drive between 60 and 90 minutes, depending on the place or city of departure). Hop on the train from Podgorica to Kolašin, take your seat and relax for the following 90 minutes. Pass high through the cliffs of the canyon, where you will enjoy the view of the Morača river and the Platije canyon. You will surely be delighted with what you see. From there the peaks of Maganik, Žurim and Stožac are also seen. Next we will cross the bridge on Mala Rijeka, one of the highest in Europe (498 m long and 200 m high).

The Railway Belgrade – Bar line, 476 km long, is considered to be the most attractive railroad in Europe. It was put into operation on May 28, 1976. Then the ”Blue train” passed through the line, where the first passenger was former Yugoslav president Josip Broz Tito with his wife Jovanka, and the state leadership of all republics and the Federation. In this train, the then president hosted many political leaders including Nehru, Nasser, Arafat, Breschnew and Mitterrand. In the territory of Montenegro, the railway has a length of 175 km. The highest point of the railway line is Kolašin, 1.032 m.

Kolašin is a town in the north of Montenegro, 72 km away from Podgorica. It is at 954 m above sea level and offers excellent holidays in winter and summer. In Bjelasica there is a well-known ski resort just a few kilometers from the city. Many people call this city an aerial spa due to the height and extraordinary climatic conditions. There is a unique botanical garden in Kolašin, which is a true treasure of flora of the continental part of Montenegro.

Continue the adventure by road with a 15 minutes drive to the Biogradska Gora National Park, the first declared national park in Montenegro in 1952 which occupies an area of 5650 ha. Its protection dates back to 1878, when this area was given to the lord of Montenegro Prince Nikola Petrović, and it has since become the “Knjažev zabran” – ‘’Prince’s reserve’’. The most important natural value of this national park is the rainforest of Biogradska Gora, which covers an area of 1600 hectares. In the heart of the forest, there is the beautiful Biogradsko lake, the largest and most famous of many glacier parks in the area of the national park. The rich flora and fauna of the National park Biogradska gora made it very interesting and attractive to many scientists, scientific observations and studies, as well as sightseeing tours and visits of nature lovers. The duration of the visit is one hour approx.

Back to the city center, you will enjoy between 60 and 90 minutes of free time to explore the city on your own. If you want, you can taste some of the Montenegrin specialties.

The next stop is Monastery Morača (40 minutes drive) (built in 1252), one of the most monumental Orthodox medieval monuments of Montenegro. It is located on the right side of the river Morača, in the expanded part of the canyon, on the natural valley of picturesque landscapes, in the municipality of Kolašin. Enjoy a 30 minutes tour of the monastery and feel the modest life of the seniors in harmony with nature.

We end the tour with the drive back to the meeting point.
