On this hiking route around the Pantálica Nature Reserve, we'll explore this World Heritage Site in southern Sicily.
Description
At the scheduled time, we'll meet at the Pantálica Lato Sortino car park, and from there, we'll begin our hike around the Pantálica Nature Reserve.
The reserve, situated among the Calcinara and Anapo Rivers, features deep gorges and significant archaeological sites dating back to the 13th century BC. It is recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
We will walk along the old excavated tombs and visit the impressive Grotta dei Pistrelli. Additionally, we will take a dip in the fresh waters of the Calcinara River.
After swimming, we'll walk upstream through the water and take a break on the shore for a moment of rest. Participants are encouraged to bring a small snack for this pause.
After 4 hours, we will conclude our hike back at the starting point.
