This choice allows us to explore the unforgettable sights connected to Diomedes Díaz. Prepare to uncover the impact of this celebrated vallenato artist!
Our first stop will be the house of Mamá Vila, the artist’s mother. In this nostalgic environment filled with personal stories, we will reflect on Diomedes’ formative years and upbringing. Next, we’ll visit the cemetery where many of the singer's close ones rest.
After that, we’ll depart from Valledupar towards La Junta, the town of Diomedes' birth. Here, we'll explore Cacique's Park, which features a statue of the artist and a charming walk of fame showcasing his discography.
Nearby, the Ventana Marroncita Museum awaits our visit, where we'll uncover the intricate details of the romance between Diomedes Díaz and Patricia Acosta.
The exploration continues at the Carrizal Museum and the Museum of Rosa Elvira Díaz, the eldest daughter of Diomedes, showcasing memorabilia from the top-selling vallenato musician. This experience will deepen our appreciation for this artist, recognized as Intangible Cultural Heritage.
We’ll then head back to Valledupar, stopping at a local village to enjoy a typical delicious lunch from the Caribbean coast. Finally, we will return to our original location.
Juglares Vallenatos Private Journey
This tour not only focuses on Diomedes Díaz but also delves into the legacy of the Juglares vallenatos, who are among the most celebrated figures in Colombian vallenato music.
We will dive into the lives and contributions of legends such as Rafael Escalona, Emiliano Zuleta, the López brothers, Jorge Oñate, Leandro Díaz, and Tobías Pumarejo. Their stories, melodies, and cultural significance will be vividly recalled.
The journey begins in La Jagua del Pilar, a town rich in musical heritage, followed by a stop in Urumita, known as the birthplace of the famous song “Gota Fría”, which emerged from a musical duel between Emiliano Zuleta and Lorenzo Morales, later popularized by Carlos Vives.
We will then visit the Museo del Vallenato in Villanueva, a cradle of influential vallenato families. Our next destination will be the Museo Carrizal, where photographs and artifacts will enrich our understanding of each musician’s legacy and the cultural essence of vallenato music in Colombia.
Before heading back to Valledupar, we’ll pause for a delicious typical lunch. Ultimately, we will conclude our experience at the starting point.
